2008 Fort Smith Classic Tournament Details Announced

The annual Fort Smith Classic golf tournament details have been announced! The organizers of this event, which is to be held at Hardscrabble Country Club, shared details at a luncheon on March 12.

The tournament is scheduled for May 5 through May 11, and this year is the first time the tournament will partner with the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. Tournament Director Patricia Brown believes that this even is good for both the Fort Smith area and the state of Arkansas.

Brown anticipates huge community participation in this year's tournament. "As we get together and grow the relationship and ideas about how they can help promote us and how we can help promote them we expand our marketing footprint to be outside of the Arkansas area and into other states where we can drive traffic tourism and the economy upwards as a result of showcasing the Fort Smith Classic," Brown said.

A free Ricky Skaggs concert will be added to the tournament's events this year. This Cox Communications-sponsored event will be held on May 6 at Harry Kelly Park in downtown Fort Smith.
